STOP THIRTEEN: Fraternal Halls
215 North Dallas Street
Welcome to Stop 13 of the Rails, Bales and Bluebonnet Trails historic downtown Ennis walking tour. In the two blocks of Dallas Street from Ennis Avenue to Baylor Street there were four fraternal halls: the Eagles, the Masonic Lodge, the Elks and the Knights of Pythias. These fraternal groups were the forerunners of today’s civic improvement organizations like the Rotary, the Kiwanis and the Lions Club. Their halls were the scene of many social eventsin the 1920s.
